Mark Schermeister, award-winning fine artist and poet, has a personal intention to create and exhibit visual art that conveys the unseen qualities of the world around — "to photograph the invisible."

“The images we create are both representations of the world around us and (I believe more importantly) the way we see it. These images are our way of saying 'here, look — share my world!' To do this takes time, attention, and a focus in the present moment… I like to think of my art as an 'alternative-to-social media' approach; it invites consideration, contemplation, and intentional thought through the eyes of another.

With this, we have a choice between a dictionary-prescribed, social media-ish abbreviated version of the world before us, or the option to look deeply and at length… [and] this opens for us a vastly expanded human experience. Please take a few moments, perhaps look a little deeper and longer; welcome to my (and our) world!

"Walked away from what she had not been
And was given brand new sight

She let go of uncertain future
Detached from a rigid past

Walked away from judging others
And received inner peace at last..."

Poetry and photography by fine photographic artist Mark Schermeister. 'What She Left Behind' is a fine art pursuit conveying an important message through the elegance and beauty of dance: to look forward is to look toward a colorful future filled with light. To harbor worries, rumination, and fear is not only looking at a colorless past, but draining the color from the moment in which you are present.

Take a journey with "her," stay awhile, and ruminate on what you have the power to leave behind.
