Overview
Poetry and photographic art by fine artist Mark Schermeister. "Breathe" is a journey through the discontentment of seeing with our eyes, rather than through them. Inspired by the poet William Blake, who once said,
"This life's five windows of the soul
Distorts the Heavens from pole to pole
And leads you to believe a lie
When you see with, not through the eye"
The human five senses are imperfect, therefore distorting perceptions of reality; with this, we need to see through, not with our physical form. In "Breathe," the message is to become un-shackled by material objects, limitations, and the guise of protection the physical world offers. To do this, the soul must be allowed to do one thing — to breathe the breath of life. True life.
