Our Process
Each session is custom designed with the goal of creating superb images of you.
We’ll gather some information:
- How can we set you apart?
- How can we help you along your career path?
- What are you best at?
- What do you express through dance?
We’ll discuss your concepts and objectives and select the appropriate apparel, make-up, hair, poses, dances, etc.
During your session we begin with structured poses and portraits, transitioning to more creative poses and lighting.
A full team of professionals and assistants will ensure your technique, expression, and energy are captured in the best possible way.
The results are ideal images showcasing you at your best.
Code of Ethics
Studio1761 believes in creating art that celebrates worthy and significant form and thought. We unconditionally place the physical and emotional safety of all participants above any other concern, and avoid risky behavior. We take a proactive approach to potential problems, and place particular emphasis on prevention.

- raising the standard of ethics and professionalism within the dance and fine art photography industry
- accountability and oversight of our craft for the betterment of all individuals working in our industry
- conducting business with the utmost integrity, transparency, and honesty in all activities.
- a zero-tolerance policy regarding discrimination, bullying, inappropriate conduct, passive-aggressive behavior, or harassment of any kind, in any form (whether in person, on social media, or through texting)
- using clear verbal communication for directing, posing, and other on-set movements of a model/subject
- keeping physical contact to a minimum, and conducting it in a professional manner when it is necessary
- discouraging risky behavior and extension of oneself beyond one’s capabilities, or making anyone uncomfortable in any situation
- avoiding collaboration of any kind with anyone who (either for profit or in trade) is found to be in violation of, or does not conform to, this code of conduct
- a private, separate dressing space option will be made available to everyone appearing in a photoshoot
- models are encouraged to bring an escort/chaperone/assistant to a photoshoot
- physical contact will be made with models for professional reasons only (moving a piece of hair, adjusting clothing, tucking in a garment tag, etc.), after obtaining permission. Models may decline such contact for any reason without negative impact, pressure, or conflict
- any concerns expressed by a model/subject regarding body exposure will be honored, and no model/subject will be pressured to expose themselves beyond their comfort level
- Studio 1761 will not digitally manipulate models’ body/face shape to create an unrealistic representation of the dancer’s capabilities or beauty standards. If this editing is done for creative/artistic reasons, the intent will be disclosed in advance.Studio1761 engages in ethical social media practices: no misrepresentation of identity, actual number of authentic followers, capabilities, etc.
- all activities conducted during a photo or video shoot will comply with applicable laws and regulations
- photoshoot participants must not be under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs (including unauthorized prescription drugs)
- in the event of a model younger than 18, a parent/legal guardian must accompany the model to the shoot. The chaperone will have access to any reasonable space where the model may be (with the exception of private changing areas.)
- the physical, mental, and emotional safety of all persons involved is of utmost importance: this shall be given first consideration in all activities
- no exploitation of any person, of any kind, is tolerated.
- Studio 1761 will not work with models who engage in unsafe weight management practices
- Studio 1761 does not tolerate any form of body shaming
FAQs
Each photo session is custom designed for you; we’ll meet (in person or electronically) to determine the overall concepts and objectives; then go over what clothing, props, make-up, hair, poses, dances, etc. we need to make it happen. Our goal is to create great images of you and have a lot of fun doing it! We do this by learning a little about you and expressing your personality as much as possible. We’ll make sure you’re comfortable in front of the camera, guiding you through different poses to get that “perfect” image!
We’ll collaborate at the planning session to suggest a wardrobe base on the session concepts and objectives.
We like to start with a several structured poses and portraits, working and adapting toward more creative poses and lighting as the session progresses. We have a full team of assistants and a professional poser to ensure your technique and expression show your technique and energy in the best possible way. The result is a session of creative fun, with a stellar set of images that show off your beauty and ability!
We don’t give general guidance on hair and make-up because it varies according to the session concept and objectives. We’ll cover this in the planning session, and make sure you have a clear plan for the day of your session.

In our Photo Studio:
We offer a full state-of-art photography studio custom designed with dancers in mind: A sprung marley floor, dressing rooms, and warm-up areas. This offers the best of both types of studio: high ceilings, large background, professional lighting and camera equipment in a dance studio environment.
Dance Studio:
We come to your studio, and set up our portable equipment, and work within the resources the space provides.
Location:
We meet at a predetermined location and create environmental images that integrate the natural beauty of the area and your energy, and enthusiasm. We need to carefully choose the time and location for the best access, light and weather.
Live Classroom:
We come to the class you are taking (or teaching) and illustrate the behind-the-scenes discipline, effort, and preparation essential to your commitment to dance.
Performance:
We will capture your dress rehearsal and/or performances; we need to secure approval of the venue, and obtain all rules and restrictions they may have.
We don’t normally offer rate reductions, but do realize the cost can sometimes be prohibitive; we are open to working out a service-for-fee arrangement (model releases to include fine-art usage, stock licensing, etc.) that can reduce your out-of-pocket cost; just let us know if you’re interested, and we’ll discuss it.
